SAFE KIDS Rutherford County is a member of SAFE KIDS North Carolina and SAFE KIDS Worldwide, a global network of organizations that work to prevent accidental injury, the leading killer of children 14 years and under. SAFE KIDS Rutherford County was founded in 2003 through efforts of the Community Health Council of Rutherford County and is a 501(c) 3 organization. Donations are welcome and are tax deductible. A network of partnering agencies and service organizations work together to raise awareness of preventable childhood injuries and help to support public awareness of child safety.
SAFE KIDS Rutherford County consists totally of dedicated VOLUNTEERS and hosts a variety of safety events throughout the year to provide children, parents and caregivers with the information and equipment they need to help keep children injury free.
SAFE KIDS Rutherford County partners with local schools, community groups and businesses in the following safety initiatives: Child Passenger Safety, Bicycle Safety, Never Leave Your Child Alone (Eliminating Hyperthermia), Poison Prevention, Pedestrian Safety, Fire Safety, and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Dept. GREAT Program.
